Fremantle ruckman Luke Jackson is confident Sean Darcy is the key to helping the club in their quest for a maiden premiership.

Darcy joins Jackson after also signing a mega deal for the Dockers, with the rucking pair tied to the club until 2030.

He was expected to become a free agent after the 2024 season, but Darcy signed the contract that sees him remain in purple until the start of the next decade.

After an ankle injury restricted Darcy to just 15 games in 2023, his rucking partner Jackson says the time is now for the pair to help win the club's maiden premiership.

"The most important thing is probably playing more games together. We played a few this season passed. But if we can get out on the park together a lot more, I reckon that will go a long way," Jackson told 9News Perth on Saturday.

"Sean's obviously like, one of the best rucks in the comp. I'm happy just helping him out when he's having a rest.

After being part of Melbourne's drought-breaking premiership victory in 2021 before being traded to the Dockers, Jackson already knows what it takes to go all the way.

Teaming up with Melbourne captain Max Gawn in the ruck that season, he's now ready to be the ruck support that Darcy needs to help the Dockers on their flag tilt.

"It was unreal to win a flag at Melbourne and get a feel for what it is. I want to bring some of that over to Freo," Jackson said.

As for what the 22-year-old ruckman is hoping to bring to the Dockers in 2024, he'll stick to being Darcy's sidekick, while also moving up forward when required.

"It frees my game up a little bit (playing forward). I feel like I'm more involved out there when I'm switching (from ruck to forward)," he said.

The Dockers host the 2023 grand finalists, Brisbane at Optus Stadium in round one of the 2024 season.
