Kane Cornes whacks 'lazy' reporters after copping Damien Hardwick spray
Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes has fired back at other members of the AFL media for their "lazy" opinions following a weekend of criticism towards him.
Cornes was called out by Richmond coach Damien Hardwick for his outspoken opinions on the club's trades to acquire Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper at the weekend and returned serve on the Sunday Footy Show.
Speaking on Nine's Footy Classified, the two-time All-Australian took aim at a number of Herald Sun columns which had piggybacked on ideas he'd previously used in his own column for The Age.

"I'm sick of some lazy members of the AFL media. I'm sick of AFL figures having opinions off the back of other AFL figures," he said.

"For the likes of 'Daisy' (Dale) Thomas and Tony Shaw, who work part-time and they don't have to do a lot of on-air time, for their big opinions this week to be something I said 12 months ago on SEN SA is embarrassing.
"Get up early, watch the games, work hard, and stop having opinions off other people's opinions. If I employed these people, I'd want my money back."
Cornes' outspoken opinions have led to questions being asked of his place on the All-Australian selection panel, but he isn't worried about being pulled up by the AFL.
"I'd been working in the media for six years with my style prior to being on the All-Australian panel," he said.
"The AFL knew who they were getting on the All-Australian panel. I wasn't going to change and I haven't changed from the time I've gone on there.

"I haven't heard from the AFL (and) I don't expect to.
"I love it. I love the debate. I've learnt a lot by doing it. I've loved every minute of it."
Cornes explained his role in the media requires him to think ahead of time about different angles on stories, but doubled down on his disappointment at the Herald Sun.
"You're on radio seven days a week, you do three TV shows a week, of course you're thinking about what you are going to say and what the angle will be," he said.
"I'm embarrassed by the industry at times that the back page of the Herald Sun is something I said at seven o'clock on Friday morning when we've had eight games to talk about."
