Why this gesture by Demons youngster Kysaiah Pickett brought ex-coach to tears

Demons coach Simon Goodwin was full of praise for one of his side's young stars after his honest act on the footy field, which brought an ex-coach to tears.

In the fourth quarter of the Demons' 94-68 win at the MCG, Kysaiah 'Kozzy' Pickett took a stunning snap from the pocket which sailed through the posts for what seemed to be a goal.

The goal umpire was unsure if it was a six-pointer and a review followed. But there was no need for it with Pickett almost immediately owning up to the Carlton defender getting a touch on the ball after it left Pickett's boot.

"Absolutely love it…..I actually welled up," former St Kilda coach Grant Thomas tweeted about Pickett's actions.

"Love this type of sincerity and dignity. Hard, tough and relentless in the contest."

The 19-year-old, who finished with one goal, two behinds and 12 disposals for the game, was hailed by his coach after the game for his honesty.

"That's the type of kid Kozzy is. He's an honest kid. He's a very special player, there's no doubt about that," Goodwin said.

"He knew it was touched and he made everyone know pretty quickly that it was touched.

"Good honesty from the young fella."
