Mason Cox hospitalised after dangerous hit to the throat during Collingwood practice
Collingwood big man Mason Cox has been taken to hospital after a training accident.
AFL Media confirmed that the Magpies' Wednesday morning session was halted when Cox was on the receiving end of an accidental blow to the throat.
Cox was then taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
The 2.11m-tall American hasn't played for Collingwood since Round 4 after coach Nathan Buckley dropped him from the AFL side. In four AFL games he scored six goals.
Cox, who is out of contract at the end of this season, is still training with the senior team, but has played in the VFL during his AFL absence.
The ruck-forward suffered a season-ending eye injury in 2019 after a tear of his left retina which left him "legally blind" and requiring three surgeries to correct.
