North Melbourne AFL footballer Majak Daw has been found not guilty on three counts of rape over an incident at a Melbourne party eight years ago.

Daw, 24, had pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape alleged to have happened when he and a girl went for a walk at the Altona Meadows party in March 2007.

The Kangaroos rookie had told his trial the sex acts were consensual.

Daw was aged 16 and the girl aged 15 when the attack was alleged to have occurred.

Relatives of Daw cried and let out sighs of relief when the jury delivered the verdict of not guilty on all three charges of rape.

The jury today returned its verdict after one day of deliberation.

Judge Mark Dean told Daw he could leave the dock after the verdict was read out.

He hugged his family and friends who had packed the court to support him.
