THREE KEY MATCH-UPS IN THE RICHMOND-GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY FINAL

Dustin Martin (Richmond) v Stephen Coniglio (GWS)

Blunting the superstar Tiger's effectiveness will be a key to the entire contest. Coniglio has proved an effective tagger in the past but he will likely be one of several Giants midfielders to put time into Martin. Rather than attempt a hard tag, GWS have talked up the potency of their own talented onball brigade. But if Martin starts to get off the chain expect Coniglio's focus to become much more defensive.

Alex Rance (Richmond) v Jonathon Patton (GWS)

Patton's importance has been magnified by the loss of Jeremy Cameron to a hamstring injury but he's only managed two goals this finals series. He'll know he's in for a torrid time if the All-Australian skipper comes and stands beside him at the opening bounce. David Astbury is just as likely to to take Patton, allowing Rance to intercept mark and play a more creative role.

Jack Riewoldt (Richmond) v Phil Davis (GWS)

Riewoldt hasn't managed more than two goals against the Giants in their past four meetings, with Davis often a key factor. But the Tigers don't need their key forward to kick a bag any more for them to prosper. Elevated to the leadership group for this season, Riewoldt's importance to a young Tigers forward line has gone to another level. He brings his teammates into the game like never before.
