Joe Daniher avoids surgery as scans reveal 'soft tissue' injury in shoulder
The Brisbane Lions have received a massive boost with star forward Joe Daniher avoiding surgery on his injured shoulder.
Scans on Daniher's left shoulder returned positive results for the 28-year-old on Tuesday, showing what the club called a "soft tissue injury".
Daniher is expected to miss between four and six weeks as his shoulder recovers, but expressed optimism that he'd be able to avoid surgery before the scans came through.

"It's (the shoulder) feeling pretty good," he told 9News Queensland.

"It's never a good part of footy, not being out there with your teammates, but I'm looking forward to getting back as soon as possible."
Brisbane football manager Danny Daly said in a statement; "the outcome today is a fairly good one with Joe not requiring surgery on the shoulder and we can just focus on rehabilitating and getting strength back into it".
"While it is disappointing for Joe to miss a few games after stringing together so many consecutively, we're confident we have the forward line depth to cover it whilst he focuses on getting back on the park."
The injury means Daniher's run of 31 consecutive games for Brisbane since joining the club in 2021 is ended.
