Controversial Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett agrees to step aside early
Controversial Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett has reportedly agreed to step aside from the role before his tenure officially expires.
Kennett is currently locked in to the role until December 2023, but a report from The Age says the veteran administrator has told the board and club members he is willing to step down prematurely.
He has not yet signaled a date when he may end his tenure.
A faction of Hawks supporters have been petitioning for Kennett to step down and former the "Hawks for change" group. They gathered 2900 signatures calling for the president to quit his post.

The Hawthorn board has agreed to form a nominations committee which will decide the next president.
Kennett told club members the preferred candidate will be decided on by June 30, suggesting he will step down from the job by the end of next AFL season.
