Jarryd Lyons will remain at the Brisbane Lions for an additional three years after signing a two-year extension with the club after triggering a clause for 2022.

The 28-year-old has become one of Brisbane's most consistent players since joining the club in 2019, averaging a career-high 28.1 disposals per game in 14 appearances this year.

The contract extension continues what has been an incredible career arc for Lyons, who is in contention for an All-Australian spot this season, just three years after being delisted by the Gold Coast Suns, who finished 17th on the ladder when they let him go.

After initially being drafted by the Crows before being traded to the Suns, Lyons credited the stability in Brisbane for allowing him to play at a career-best level.

"Joining the Lions has been terrific for me,'' he said in a club statement.

"They are a great bunch of players and a really supportive coaching staff who have created a culture that makes it an absolute pleasure to come to work each day.

"There's exciting times ahead for this group and I'm thrilled to have committed to the Lions for the next three years.

"I've been pretty happy with my form over the past couple of years and I'm looking forward to continuing to work hard on my game and giving the best I can each week for this club.''
