* Hawthorn's Jordan Lewis traded to Melbourne

* Fellow Hawks veterans Sam Mitchell (traded to West Coast) and Luke Hodge (club suspension) did not play

* Essendon have welcomed back new captain Dyson Heppell, former skipper Jobe Watson, Cale Hooker, Michael Hurley, Ben Howlett, Brent Stanton and Travis Colyer - among 10 players returning from doping bans

* Midfield recruits Jaeger O'Meara and Tom Mitchell lead the Hawthorn inclusions
