Boomer Harvey urges Kangaroos members to stick solid with club

North Melbourne legend Brent Harvey has used his retirement speech to end rumours he is bitter at the club.

Harvey, who announced his retirement – officially ending a record 432-game career -  at North’s best and fairest dinner on Friday night, seemed content with how things had unfolded.

‘’A lot of people have thought I am angry with the club, I can assure you that is not the case,’’ he said.

‘’Yes, I have been pretty silent about it all, but I guess that is just my way of dealing with it.

‘’To the members who said they won’t resign and get their memberships, let’s take a deep breath and remember the shinboner spirit.’’

The announcement that Harvey wouldn’t be re-signed came in the lead up to the AFL finals.

After a week of turmoil, the Kangaroos were eliminated by Adelaide in the opening weekend of the post-season.
