Huge blow for Cats to start season as star recruit Jeremy Cameron injures hamstring

The man brought to Geelong to lift them from contenders to premiers will have to wait for his debut in the blue and white hoops after re-injuring his hamstring.

According to AFL.com.au's Mitch Cleary, Cats power forward Jeremy Cameron strained his hamstring in training on Wednesday, having got back to full strength following an injury to the same hamstring in January.

The 27-year-old had played in both of Geelong's pre-season games and was expected to make his first AFL appearance for his new club against Adelaide tomorrow but his latest setback will likely keep him out for at least three weeks.

According to the report, Cameron has already been ruled out of next week's clash with Brisbane.

The Cats play rivals Hawthorn in Round 3 and Melbourne in Round 4.

The absence of Cameron in Geelong's season-opener will put major pressure on spearhead Tom Hawkins who will shoulder a huge load in the forward line, particularly as Esava Ratugolea (leg fracture) is also out of the side.

Ex-Crow Josh Jenkins is expected to play against his former side for the first time as a ruck/forward, while the Cameron injury could prompt the Cats to play midfield star Patrick Dangerfield more time in the forward line.
