Gary Ablett and Nat Fyfe cleared by Match Review Officer over high elbows
Geelong star Gary Ablett and Fremantle skipper Nat Fyfe are still in contention for this year's Brownlow Medal after avoiding suspension for a pair of high hits.
After being handed a one-match ban just last week, Ablett tempted fate once again with an eerily similar high elbow on North Melbourne's Sam Wright to the one he laid on Essendon's Dylan Shiel a week earlier.
According to the report released by AFL, Ablett's hit on Wright was deemed as being "insufficient force to constitute a reportable offence" despite being an "intentional striking action".
Fyfe was also in hot water after a high hit on Richmond's Tom Lynch in the Tigers' 25-point win at Optus Stadium on Sunday.

The Fremantle skipper appeared to connect with an elbow while attempting to secure a loose ball on the wing in the fourth quarter, but the AFL's Match Review Officer deemed that there was "insufficient force to constitute a reportable offence" like in Ablett's case.
The Match Review Officer's decision comes after Ablett admitted that he was not worried about receiving a suspension for the hit on Wright.
"No I'm not concerned at all," Ablett told Fox Footy regarding the possibility of a suspension.
"I just tried to put a block on the running player so they didn't get that overlap possession. It was a free kick and it was paid.
"I wouldn't say I'm getting cranky, but I can't run as fast as I used to so I've got to put on a few bumps."
