Former Power mid to make Eagles' debut

Former Port Adelaide midfielder Brendon Ah Chee will make his West Coast debut in Saturday's clash with Greater Western Sydney at Spotless Stadium.

And the Eagles will unveil their sixth AFL debutant of the season when Brayden Ainsworth runs out against the Giants.

Ah Chee suffered an ankle injury during the pre-season, but coach Adam Simpson said the 24-year-old was ready to go after some solid WAFL form.

Simpson's outfit has been hit hard by injuries in recent weeks, with star trio Luke Shuey (hamstring), Lewis Jetta (calf), and Dom Sheed (foot) all sidelined.

Speedster Jack Petruccelle (ankle) has been added to that list, while West Coast will also be without suspended ruckman Nic Naitanui this weekend.

West Coast are flying at 6-1, but their depth will be tested this week against a GWS outfit who have also been hit hard by injury.

The Eagles recruited Ah Chee during the summer to bolster their midfield depth following the retirements of Sam Mitchell and Matt Priddis.

Ah Chee played just 27 games over three seasons at the Power, but is aiming to cement a spot in West Coast's outfit playing as a forward and midfielder.

Ainsworth is an in-and-under midfielder, with Simpson hopeful the 19-year-old can help fill the void left by Shuey.

Simpson confirmed Fraser McInnes would come into the side to replace Naitanui.

McInnes has been at the club since 2011, but has managed just 11 AFL games.

The 24-year-old started his career as a forward, but has been used mostly in the ruck this season at WAFL club East Perth.

"He's a much loved player at the club because he does everything he possibly can to play AFL," Simpson said of McInnes.

"He doesn't get the same opportunities as others ... so when he gets to play, they (his teammates) really grow."

Scott Lycett will lead the ruck in Naitanui's absence.
