There were very few opponents who got the better of Tony Lockett on the field but the same can't be said after the champion full forward came across a kangaroo in downtown Bowral.

Plugger told The AFL Footy Show panellist Billy Brownless he was sitting down enjoying a meal at a local café when he noticed the wayward marsupial and thought he better do something about it.

"I seen this kangaroo jumping over in the arcade there and said, "What have you put in this food? There's a kangaroo in the in main street of Bowral!"

"Anyway, I thought I better go and see what I can do. He was either going to hurt himself or going to jump into someone. I thought he might jump into an old lady or old bloke or something.

"I grabbed him by the tail and I reckon I had him for about 20 minutes before someone came and relieved me. The kangaroo ended up all right so he was lucky."

Lockett has traditionally shunned the limelight but is back in the public eye after re-joining one of his former clubs, the Sydney Swans, as a specialist forwards coach.
