Pioneering female AFL coach Peta Searle can't foresee any problems being a woman in an all-male changing room.

"I've been in and out of changing rooms for the last four or five years with male footy and there's never been an issue," Searle told Today.

The single mother of two, who has become the first fulltime AFL coach after joining St Kilda in a development role, says the number of females in the game will make her transition easier.

"There's plenty of females around in other areas of the game in terms of physios, masseurs and dieticians so it's certainly not unfamiliar territory for anybody."

Searle also addressed her exit from VFL club Port Melbourne earlier this year, denying that had been because of a lack of opportunities.
