Essendon great urges Riewoldt to move on

Essendon great Matthew Lloyd says St Kilda star Nick Riewoldt should look to switch clubs to try and get a final shot at premiership glory.

Speaking on Channel Nine's Footy Classified, Lloyd says he feels the star forward could be reinvigorated by a change of environment.

And he feels it could be a move that would also benefit struggling St Kilda as it looks to change up its roster and prepare for life after Riewoldt.

"I believe Riewoldt is still capable of kicking 60 goals in a season," Lloyd said.

"I believe he's capable of doing it next year and I've seen him look really frustrated (this year), obviously as you would be as your team's struggling as it is.

"St Kilda has got to look to the future and pass Nick Riewoldt (and) Riewoldt's got to look toward what he wants to do in life.

"To me I'd love to see Nick Riewoldt challenge for a premiership again.

"I can see him really rotting away next year in that St Kilda forward line."

Lloyd says while it would be a question of what St Kilda could get back in return for the star, who is signed until the end of next year, he feels it was worth investigating for both parties.

"I'm just wondering whether it's worth Nick either looking for the discussion or St Kilda looking for the discussion to see whether both parties could win out of this come next year," he said.

"I think Geelong, Fremantle and Port Adelaide would be more chance of winning the premiership with him.

"It's like Franklin and Tippett at the moment. I think Riewoldt in another team throws a new dimension on their forward line."
