'Dogs appoint Grant to new AFL role

Former Western Bulldogs captain Chris Grant will be the AFL club's full-time football director.

The Bulldogs have created the position to oversee their expanding football department, which now includes a team in the new women's league.

Grant has been the non-executive football director on the Bulldogs board for more than four years.

"We've grown from a club with one AFL team to a club that now fields three teams - AFL, VFL women's - as well as having some exciting opportunities with next generation academies," said club chief executive David Stevenson.

"Chris' appointment acknowledges the evolving football landscape and puts us in a strong position to deliver an elite performance environment for all three teams."

Graham Lowe will continue as their AFL and VFL football manager.

Grant played 341 games for the `Dogs from 1990-2007, second on their all-time list behind teammate Brad Johnson's 364 matches.
