Dipper quits Twitter after embarrassing Cousins gaffe

Hawthorn legend Robert "Dipper" DiPierdomenico has quit Twitter after a gaffe announcing Ben Cousins had died.
DiPierdomenico tweeted his condolences to the family of the former West Coast Eagles star before trying to retract it, claiming he'd been given the wrong information.
"Have heard the news Ben Cousin has passed away please tell me this is not true#restinpeace," Dipper tweeted.
He immediately retracted the incorrect tweet and apologised, but the damage had been done.
In trying to correct his mistake he then incorrectly named another person before finally getting it right.

But it was too late and within the hour Dipper sent out his last tweet, announcing he was quitting social media.

The tweets have since been deleted but Dipper's account is still active.
