Demons gifted 'greatest run from umpires' in win over North, says Garry Lyon
Demons great Garry Lyon says his former side was handed the "the greatest run from the umpires" in Melbourne's 47-point win over North Melbourne on Saturday.
Despite going in as giant underdogs against the reigning premiers, the Kangaroos kept things tight for most of the match before the Demons ran away with it in the fourth quarter.
But on the wrong end of a 25-18 free kick count, North Melbourne coach David Noble said he would seek clarification over several controversial incidents that went against his side.

Noble's comments found support in Lyon, a former skipper of the Demons, who said he hadn't seen any team get as lucky with the umpires as his former side did on the weekend.
"I watched Melbourne-North Melbourne, not many went to the game to watch it, I don't know how many people watched it on television," Lyon told SEN.
"North Melbourne's effort was so much better than what they've had in recent times.
"Melbourne got the greatest run from the umpires I have seen for a long, long, long time. Jeez they had a good run.
"I just want to put it out there."
One moment in particular that left the North Melbourne coach scratching his head was a controversial free kick paid against Tarryn Thomas for a crunching front on tackle to Ed Langdon, which resulted in the Demons scoring the opening goal.
"It's one of those ones that's difficult to balance, isn't it? I'm not sure of the interpretation, it was front on, I get the dangerous essence of tackles," Noble said after the game.
"From my side of things, I probably thought it was an OK tackle, I was pretty happy with it.
"I just think we have to be careful, and I think there's a balance on both sides. But I'm probably making a phone call on that one and a few others this week."
