David Mundy named Dockers skipper

Midfielder David Mundy will take over the captaincy of the Fremantle Dockers for the 2016 AFL season.

Mundy replaces long-time skipper and Dockers icon Matthew Pavlich, who stepped down on Wednesday after nine years in the role.

Pavlich, 34, led Fremantle for 189 of his current club-record 335 games, including in the 2013 Grand Final loss to Hawthorn. He will remain in the clubs leadership group that sees Michael Johnson added to it, alongside Lee Spurr, Aaron Sandilands and Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe.

Mundy, 30, was picked up by the Dockers with pick No. 19 of the 2003 National Draft and has played 233 of a possible 251 games for the club since debuting in round 6, 2005.
