Carlton lodge monster six-year deal for Zac Williams as Giants await first-round pick in return
The Carlton Football Club have officially lodged paperwork to sign GWS ace Zac Williams to a mega deal.
Multiple media outlets are reporting that Williams, 26, is set to sign an incentive-based contract across six years with the Blues.
The Age footy reporter Sam McClure revealed last month on Wide World of Sports' Talk of the Town that the deal would be worth more than $850,000 per season.
The Giants now have three days to match the offer for Williams but are expected to let the defender walk to Carlton with the AFL likely to send the club a first-round compensation pick in return.

Before the GWS defender announced his intentions to depart, rumours of a big contract on offer had been swirling for some time.
Port Adelaide great Warren Tredrea said he feared the big-money contract could cause the Blues some issues moving forward with star midfielder Patrick Cripps coming off contract at the end of next year.
"Sorry, sorry - what did you just say? Geez, I wouldn't want to be Patty Cripps coming out of contract, or Sam Walsh coming out of contract," Tredrea said sarcastically," Tredrea told Wide World of Sports' Talk of the Town.
"This is not being cynical, you get what you get and the market dictates what you get at a certain time and he's clearly cashed in at the right time.

"But I would have thought any decisions overs four years, for a player who doesn't spend much time in the midfield, he is a half-back flanker mostly, or any outside winger ... and don't get me wrong, he's a very good player, but when you pay that sort of money over that sort of journey, he's one injury away from never playing again.
"I just think it's a massive risk, particularly in the climate where we're looking at football clubs cutting left, right and centre. I get they need that player but do they need him at that cost?
