Carlton star Jacob Weitering to miss six weeks, set for surgery on injured shoulder
Carlton star Jacob Weitering is expected to miss the next six weeks with a specialist recommending he undergo surgery to repair his shoulder.
Weitering hurt the AC joint in his right shoulder in a clash with Jordan De Goey in Carlton's four-point loss to Collingwood at the weekend and was substituted out of the game in the opening quarter.
The 24-year-old will go under the knife later this week before he begins his rehab.

"We had a good indication soon after Jacob experienced the injury that it was a significant one, which has now been confirmed, so the surgery will take place in the coming days so he can commence his rehab as soon as possible," Carlton Head of Football Brad Lloyd said in a statement on Monday.

"Our defence and the team as a whole has shown some outstanding resolve so far this season. The players have really bought into that mindset, so while losing Jacob for an extended period certainly isn't ideal, it provides another opportunity to showcase the resilience that has become a trademark of this group."
Weitering's absence leaves a gaping hole in Carlton's backline, which was already without Mitch McGovern (hamstring), Oscar McDonald (back) and Zac Williams (calf) through injury.
Carlton is also without first-choice ruckman Marc Pittonet, who is dealing with a knee injury.
Pittonet's brace was removed last week and he is close to returning to a running program. Carlton is expecting the 25-year-old to return mid-July.
