Blundstone evacuted as fire breaks out

AFL supporters have been evacuated from a section of Blundstone Arena after a fire broke out during the match between the Kangaroos and the Tigers in Hobart.

Grey smoke filled the newly developed Ricky Ponting stand during the second term of the match after a fire was sparked from a gas leak behind the stadium.

Footage of the incident captures security calmly leading supporters away from the affected areas as the game rages on the field.

The orderly, if not reluctant, evacuation of the stands causes some mirth among the commentators.

"The Hobart fans don’t seem too fussed by the fire so let's hope they get out quickly and get back to the game," jokes one pundit.

Authorities and stadium officials quickly contained the fire and fans were able to return to their seats.

No injuries were reported.
