Richmond's Alex Rance undergoes surgery on troublesome knee

Richmond star defender Alex Rance has been dealt a setback from his ruptured ACL after going back under the knife to repair the troublesome knee that ended his 2019 campaign.

The Herlad Sun reports the 30-year-old was sent in for surgery earlier in the month for a minor arthroscopic clean-up.

The surgery is set to interrupt Rance's comeback with the five time All Australian set to miss up to two weeks of Richmond's pre-season.

After going down to a ruptured ACL in round one of 2019, It was reported in July that Rance's comeback well ahead of schedule.

Rance kept the possibility of a return open with Richmond's finals hopes in the backman's eyes but pulled the pin just weeks out from the Finals series.

Jack Graham and Shai Bolton will join Rance in the race to be fit for pre-season with the young Tigers duo having their shoulders operated on.

Shortly after Richmond's thumping premiership victory over the Giants, ruckman Toby Nankervis received groin surgery while Jack Higgins underwent more brain surgery.
