AFL women's match to boast top talent

AFL women's league talent scouts will descend on Whitten Oval in force this September when Melbourne play the Western Bulldogs.

The last of 10 women's exhibition games this season will be held on Saturday, September 3 as part of the contentious pre-AFL finals bye round.

It will also be the first time that a game is played under lights at the former AFL venue.

While Melbourne and the Bulldogs will play for the Hampson-Hardeman Cup, it will effectively be an all-star game.

The best women from around Australia will play, giving scouts an ideal opportunity to assess potential talent ahead of state-based drafts.

An eight-team women's league will have its inaugural season from next February.

The squads for the match feature women's stars such as Daisy Pearce, Meg Hutchins and Tayla Harris.
