Injured West Coast Eagles ruckman Nic Naitanui has lent a helping hand to a young cancer patient by starting a Go Fund Me account for her family.

Naitanui, who is currently out with a torn ACL injury, said he felt inspired to help out as the illness put his own injury in perspective.

“Initially I was upset with my injury. But after a while, I thought that I was going to be sitting around, not doing much,” Naitanui said.

“So I decided why not help someone else out? Why don’t we go help a sick kid out, or someone that really needs help?

“I met Jorja, she’s got to be in isolation because of her illness. I couldn’t go into her room to be near her or give her a high-five or a hug.”

The 28-year-old Eagles star said he initially connected with Jorja through FaceTime and wanted to help raise money for her family.

“The biggest thing is that I want other people to get on board and help out. It doesn’t have to be much, but it will go a long way for Jorja and her family.”
