Geelong legend Sam Newman claimed he was denied entry into the finals clash between the Cats and The West Coast Eagles.

Newman comically logged the ordeal on his personal twitter account.

First, it was an explanation of why he was initially turned away, with his clothing not meeting the members' dress code.

Then, it was off to the official merchandise van where he spent $200 on a Geelong polo.

Again, it was no dice for Newman.

Running out of available wardrobe items, Newman opted for a white collared shirt and tie, 'still hopeful' that this would get him over the line.

"You've got to have a tie and a shirt to get in," Newman said in his first video on Twitter.

"So there we are, that's my day at the football."

"There we are, they're the rules. I'm glad I'm a member of a club that has to have you properly dressed to get in."

Eventually, Newman found a seat, with a relatively high vantage point, finishing his pseudo-feature length movie, citing US president Calvin Coolidge, who once famously said: 'Nothing in this world takes the place of persistence'.
