AFL expert tips and predictions round 8
Round eight of the AFL premiership is here and the panel are back with their expert tips to help you find a winner this weekend.
It’s fair to say last week wasn’t their finest effort, as we saw every match of the round won by the lower placed team for the first time since 1975.
Sam Newman found some much-needed form, tipping seven winners to move back within striking distance of the midfield pack.
At the top of the table Dave Hughes actually extended his lead, tipping five winners to now sit two points clear of Rebecca Maddern.
Shane Crawford turned in an embarrassing effort, managing just two correct tips from nine games, which means he drops into a tie for last place with Sam.
The AFL makes history this week, with Gold Coast and Port Adelaide playing in Shanghai, and Billy has been studying this one closely.
“I’ve had a look at the Suns’ form, they haven’t lost a game in China, so the Suns for me in this one.”
One game has split the panel down the middle this week. West Coast hosts the Western Bulldogs, and Hutchy, Billy and Sam are all tipping the visitors.
“The Doggies for me, they travel beautifully,” said Billy.
There’s also plenty of support for the Swans to extend their winning run to two games, with only Rebecca and Hutchy tipping the Kangaroos.
“North Melbourne won’t win, the Swans for me,” is Billy’s considered opinion.
The panel were unanimous in their belief the Giants can overcome last week’s loss to St Kilda.
“No (Adam) Treloar for Collingwood so the Giants will get back on the winners list with this one,” said Billy.
Geelong is coming off two straight losses, but all six of our experts expect them to be too good for Essendon.
“It’s the country game, there’ll be farmers and sheep and wool everywhere, and the Cats will win this one, they can’t lose three in a row,” is how Billy see’s the game unfolding.
Elsewhere St Kilda is expected to down Carlton.
“Love the way the saints are going about it, they’ll win that one,” said Billy.
There’s also solid support amongst the panel for Hawthorn, Adelaide and Richmond to get up.
