Sacked Triple M commentator Barry Hall issues apology over crude on-air remarks
Former Sydney Swans star Barry Hall has issued a heartfelt apology for his crude on-air comments that caused him to be sacked by Triple M.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Hall said he hoped that Australians would forgive him for his vulgar remarks made during last night’s AFL pre-game show.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise for any offence taken from my commentary on Friday night’s Triple M footy coverage,” Hall said.
“It was a silly thing to say and it is not a reflection of who I am or what my views are.
“I am a proud father and a dedicated partner and have nothing but respect for women.”

Hall was chatting live on air during Triple M’s coverage of the Western Bulldogs’ clash with Geelong when the topic of former Saints star Leigh Montagna’s wife’s pregnancy was discussed.
The 41-year-old Swans premiership captain also apologised to Montagna’s family for any pain he may have caused through his shocking comments.
"I apologise to the Montagna family for any upset I have caused and wish them all the best with the exciting arrival of their baby,” Hall said.
“I also want to thank those for their support [and] am disappointed that I have been stood down because of this incident.
“Once again, I am sorry, I should not have said such an inappropriate comment on air and hope I can be forgiven and move forward from here.”
Hall’s partner, former Hi-5 star Lauren Brant also came to his defence, saying that the father of one has an “absolute heart of gold”.

“He is the most adoring partner and loving and proud father and would never want to offend any person, especially women,” Brant told the Daily Telegraph.
“I say that as an empowered female myself.
“Unfortunately my little family is facing the upsetting backlash to a ‘throwaway’ comment on Triple M Footy.”
Unsurprisingly, Hall was lashed on social media by fans, some who said that the incident had caused them to abandon Triple M as a source for their AFL coverage.
Hall was a four-time All-Australian during his storied 15-year career which spanned from 1996 to 2011 which included the historic 2005 premiership with the Sydney Swans.
