Gun Bulldog Jack Macrae backs coach Luke Beveridge over blistering attack on journalist
Gun midfielder Jack Macrae has resigned with the Western Bulldogs and backed coach Luke Beveridge over his extraordinary outburst at a journalist.
After penning a new five-year deal that's linked him with the Dogs for the remainder of his career, Macrae defended Beveridge over his blistering attack on Tom Morris in his post-match press conference last week.
"From my view, you know, he was protecting the players and his heart was out there to protect our club and our players," Beveridge said.
"So, if you're going to get it a touch wrong, you know at least his intentions were there for us."

Committed to remaining a one-club player, three-time All-Australian Macrae said he wasn't interested in testing free agency at the end of the season.
"If we're on the same page, why not get it done?" Macrae said.
"Hopefully (I) can be a one-club player. It's something when I got drafted I wanted to be."
After their opening-round loss to Melbourne in last week's grand final rematch, the Bulldogs have turned their attention to their clash with Carlton at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night.
