Among her crew of 15 is the grandson of Princess Grace of Monaco, Pierre Casiraghi.

The 28-year-old accomplished sailor said his first taste of the Sydney to Hobart event has left him wanting more.

"It was a fantastic race, it really lived up to the reputation," Casiraghi said after the boat docked.

"I would love to do it again. We'll see next year or the year after."

The trying conditions of the 2015 race didn't worry the sporting royal.

"Maserati's a really steady, strong boat in heavy weather," he said.

"Its important to have the right boat and the right crew."

Skipper Giovanni Soldini said he would like to return for another Sydney to Hobart but admitted the long way to come from Europe was an issue.
