This month, Samsung announced its newest foldable phones, watches and UI, all with a strong focus on AI integration and innovation, at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event.

We got hands-on with Samsung's newest Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 ahead of their release date tomorrow (that's August 1), so we can bring you everything you need to know about the smartphones.

How to be the first to get your hands on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7

Currently, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Flip 7 are available for pre-order (something worth securing if you want to be the first in Australia to play with the new smartphones), with the range officially landing in stores on August 1.

If you're looking to commit, Samsung is offering up to $749 in bonus value if you pre-order, including storage upgrades, 30 per cent off Galaxy Watches and accessories, plus the option to save $150 at checkout (when you use the code UNFOLD2025 with certain products) or score a pair of Galaxy Buds 3 Pro with the code LIVEBUD3PRO at checkout.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 – "The ultra experience that unfolds"

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

I got hands-on with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and it feels like a super premium phone and surprisingly light. 9Product Reviews / Joshua Buchwald

I was lucky enough to be able to attend an exclusive Galaxy Unpacked prior to the launch, and admittedly, I have never experienced a single piece of foldable technology from Samsung.

But this phone blew my mind. After just having tested the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge for a while, it felt exactly like a foldable version of that phone – light, novel and fun.

An interesting (and surprisingly handy) feature is the audio eraser tool that's been added to remove unwanted sound from memos and calls pretty flawlessly.

One thing's for sure: this phone is a premium, expensive experience, and if you've been following the Fold for a while, it sure does deliver on the upgrades.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 – "Pocket-sized AI powerhouse"

Galaxy Z Flip 7

If you like to fidget, this phone might just be the perfect one for you. 9Product Reviews / Joshua Buchwald

If you're nostalgic for flip phones or any old Nintendo products, this phone felt like a blast from the past.

For the brief moment I had, this phone felt very satisfying to hold and play around with. The display feels a bit too big for my liking, but maybe because I have smaller hands (so take it with a grain of salt).

One of the biggest upgrades for the phone is extra customisability, particularly on the Flip's window, which even allows live wallpapers.

The phone folds up nicely, it's a seamless display, and the functionalities of it all integrate AI in unexpected ways. For example, you're able to prop up the phone by itself, and it can analyse your outfit of the day, and the AI will tell you if the colours look good! Another addition is the 'Now Bar' and 'Now Briefing' that will appear on the Flip's window.

Samsung's integration of AI with little details like this make these phones seem really promising in the long run.
