We’ve found the perfect trans-seasonal layer perfect for work or a run

As a Brit, Australian seasons can be confusing, especially winter. One day, it’s bitterly cold, and we’re wrapped in layers upon layers; the next, it’s surprisingly temperate, and you can leave the house with just a T-shirt on.

I’m not someone who likes to be laden with thick clothes (it makes me feel claustrophobic), so I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect light, versatile, cross-seasonal layer that can be worn on a chilly morning run, to the office, and out in the evening.

And surely enough, I’ve found it. Well, my friend found it and then I copied her. Enter: The Uniqlo C Heattech Extra Warm Cashmere Blend Crew Neck Long Sleeve T-Shirt. It’s soft, no-fuss, and for such a thin layer, it keeps you surprisingly warm.

What makes it so great? Well, let’s get into it.

This Uniqlo Long Sleeve T-Shirt is made with a nine per cent cashmere blend and is luxuriously smooth and fluffy to the touch. Its Ultra Stretch fabric moulds to the body without feeling tight or constrictive. Thanks to its heat absorption technology, the lightweight material is breathable, moisture-absorbing and sweat-wicking.

It is also one and a half times warmer than the regular ‘Heat tech’ range, making it suitable for temperatures as low as -5°C. Granted, we don’t have that here in Australia, but consider this an easy, insulating layer that can be worn in both warmer and the sub-zero climates. And even though we are moving into Spring, it’s certainly still a handy option for the in-between seasonal weather.

I, personally, find it an excellent layer for early morning or late night runs and workouts. When you’re not quite warm enough to head out in a T-shirt or sports bra, this long sleeve will help keep the chill off before your body starts to warm up.

Alternatively, when it’s colder in the mornings, you can wear this layer ahead of the day heating up. It can be worn under other layers like T-shirts and jumpers, and removed when needed. Since it’s super-thin, it also doesn’t take up much room in work or gym bags!

Depending on your style, it is available in six different shades: Beige, Gray, Black, Natural, Navy, and Dark Purple.

If you’re constantly struggling between being hot and cold, this one’s for you!
