Could this be the best water bottle for the office?

As a self-proclaimed water bottle aficionado, I have strived long and hard to find The One. 

My demands are tough, precise, and slightly superficial, but they exist for a reason: I am a cheapskate and hate nothing more than paying money for something that is not worthwhile. 

Here are my terms: the ideal water bottle should be lightweight, leakproof, fit in most cupholders, not produce any metallic taste, and include an easy-to-clean and easy-to-drink nozzle. Most importantly, it should retain water temperature for long periods, and make drinking water the easiest part of my day. 

Last, but certainly not least, it should look cute. That is a non-negotiable.

My first impression

The Super Maxi becomes quite heavy when filled up, but that's to be expected when using a bottle that holds just over a litre. Thankfully, it comes with a handle, which makes it easier to carry. I also found myself filling it up less frequently thanks to its large size, which made my life easier in terms of staying hydrated in the laziest way possible, especially in the office.

Transporting the bottle was another story. It added significant weight to my strappy shoulder bag when filled, and I dreaded carrying it in the morning, especially if I was bringing a hefty lunch. But when I did, it was worthwhile. It was leakproof, easy to carry with the handle and convenient.

To put water temperature retention to the test, I filled up the Super Maxi with cold water in the evening to see how it would hold up overnight. A mere 12 hours later, the water was still cold. By then, I was impressed.

What do the people think?

To get a well-rounded view of this water bottle and challenge my own biases, I had two colleagues test it out. 

My goal was to understand how this water bottle fits into people's lives, their general thoughts on its weight and size, their favourite and least favourite aspects, and how it compares to their previous water bottles. 

Sarah shared how the Ever Vessel Super Maxi fits into her life as a big traveller, and the size of the bottle is "great for long journeys". She liked how the design made for a Ever Vessel Super Maxi.

She further emphasised that the bottle became heavy once filled, but that posed no problems for her. The nozzle was one of her favourite features, as she finds straws to be rather "germy".

Tara explained how the Ever Vessel Super Maxi worked well for her, as she needed a water bottle specifically for her work desk. She mentioned that its size made it a convenient choice, as she did not need to refill it often, and the water stayed cold.

She mentioned that she loved how it fit into her car's cup holder "without needing an annoying contraption to hold it in place".

She did say that the height made it less convenient for transport, as the bottle is "tall rather than wide", making it hard to fit into a bag if you're carrying a lot with you.

"The handle design is pretty good for ease of carrying so I opted to hold it rather than adding the weight to my bag".

Tara echoed Sarah's concerns about straw bottles and the risk of germs and explained how she likes the mouthpiece, as it's not awkward to drink from and gives a good flow of water.

Both women noted that Super Maxi did not give any metallic taste.

Is it worth it?

Returning to my trusted Owala, I was faced with a problem I had not faced prior to using the Ever Vessel Super Maxi. 

Over the past few weeks, I had gotten used to having crisp, cold water at all times and rarely having to work for it. Without it, I am forced to fill up my water bottle every two hours (first-world problem, I guess). 

It is easy to clean, easy to carry and functions well as a bottle for the office and home. It makes hydrating effortless, produces no metallic taste and is scratch-proof.

Would I take this bottle for a walk? Not often, but the beauty of the Ever Vessel range is that there are other size options (see below) that are the perfect long-walk companion. However, for an everyday work bottle, I am beyond happy.

The consensus stands, and I would say the Ever Vessel Super Maxi is 100 per cent worth it.
