9PR LSKD Accelerate 3" High-Rise Running Short review

Running shorts are a contentious issue; some people like a tight fit, others like a loose fit. Some like long shorts, some like tiny shorts. Some like to keep it plain with a black pair, others like to spice things up with a bit of colour.

Until recently, I religiously wore my lululemon Align High-Rise Short 6" for both running and the gym. That was until I came across the LSKD Accelerate 3" High-Rise Running Short, which has stolen my heart.

Previously, the shorts were only available in low-rise, which is a no-no for me. But since launching a high-rise version, these are now a game-changer.

You might have noticed more and more people sporting a pair on socials and in real life, so let's unpack why these shorts are so elite.

Why I love them:

  • It might feel a little cliched when brands describe products as offering a "barely there" feel, but in this case, it's true. They're particularly great for warmer, stickier weather as they are ultra-lightweight and made from quick-drying fabric.
  • They have a high split at the side seam, which allows total freedom of movement without flashing the public. Some running shorts I find are too short or too high-cut, leaving a little bit too much flesh exposed. These are the perfect middle ground.
  • They feature an ultra-lightweight breathable liner, making you feel secure no matter how far you're running.
  • The high-rise style sits just below the belly button. Typically, I wear shorts that sit a bit higher, but the exposure therapy of getting your stomach out is quite liberating.
  • The waistband is made of vented mesh, which is designed to keep your midriff cool mid-run.
  • They don't ride up or fall down. This is a huge selling point for me as someone who often ends up with my shorts riding up well into my crotch.
  • There's a hidden back pocket to store smaller items like a key or a gel. Sometimes it can be a little annoying not having more pocket space for a run, but it's nothing a simple running belt can't solve.
  • As someone who likes wearing colourful workout gear, I always love the range of shades available on LSKD. The shorts are available in 12 colourways, from Black to Marshmallow-Lemon (Ultra Fuchsia is my fave!).
  • I also really enjoy switching up my typical gym shorts style with these. Now that the weather is getting really quite warm, I know I can rely on these to keep me cool mid-workout.

My only issues:

  • Because the shorts sit loosely, there's the risk of my thighs starting to rub together after a while. Because my skin was so hot and sticky, I did experience a bit of chafe. Having said this, I experience this with a lot of shorts in a similar style, so I won't hold it against them.

To conclude, since I only have these shorts in one colour, it's about time I stockpile the other 11, right?
