Marc Dodd became the nine.com.au editor in 2018 and is responsible for overseeing the site’s homepage, app and news, sport, lifestyle, entertainment and travel verticals.
After starting his career as a sports reporter at The Watford Observer in the UK in 2001, Marc joined the Metro newspaper as Assistant Sports Editor in 2005, primarily covering the English Premier League, tennis and golf.
After moving to Australia in 2011, Marc worked on the digital desk of 7News/Yahoo7 before joining the Australian, where he later took up the position of Mobile Editor.
Marc joined Nine in 2017 as Nine.com.au deputy editor before becoming Editor a year later. Marc is also a mentor for Nine’s inaugural mentorship program and a senior leadership representative for Nine’s national WHS Committee. Since joining Nine he has overseen major news events including the Covid pandemic, Donald Trump presidential victory, three Australian federal elections, The Bondi Shooting tragedy and the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Education
Marc holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Strathclyde University in Scotland and a MA English Literature Hons Degree from Aberdeen University.
Awards and Recognition
Marc was part of the team at The Australian that won the inaugural Kennedy Award for Outstanding Online News Breaking for digital coverage of the Philip Hughes tragedy in 2015.
In 2017, in his position as mobile editor of The Australian, he was part of the team that won the Mobile Site of the Year at the Australian Newspaper Awards.
Marc also led the 9news.com.au team to the Kennedy Award for Outstanding Online News Breaking in 2020 and 2021 for coverage of the bushfire and flood crisis respectively.
