Maddison started her career at Nine in 2018 as a 9honey writer, covering royals, celebrity and lifestyle. She was promoted to weekend writer in 2019 and later picked up additional duties editing the lifestyle section of the nine.com.au homepage. In 2021, she headed to Are Media for 18 months writing for publications like The Australian Women’s Weekly. She returned to Nine in 2022 as Senior Features Writer for 9honey and received multiple award nominations for her reporting on women’s health. Maddison also spent six months leading the 9honey TikTok editorial strategy, taking the account from 3000 followers to more than 30,000.
In 2024, Maddison was promoted to nine.com.au senior features reporter and broadened her reporting to include everything from the 2025 federal budget, to the fuel crisis, and local council disputes. Her focus was long-form features that shine a light on the issues everyday Australians care about, from the price of groceries and housing, to the impact of AI on workers and small businesses, and women’s health.
Education
Maddison completed a Bachelor of Communication double majoring in Journalism and Creative Writing at the University of Technology, Sydney and graduated in 2019. While completing her degree she spent six months living and studying abroad at the University of Westminster, London. In 2025, Maddison completed Nine’s Publishing Academy course Best Practice in News Writing.
Awards and Recognition
Maddison was a finalist for Young Writer of the Year at the Mumbrella Publish Awards in 2023.She was recognised again the following year, when she was a finalist for the Journalist of the Year Award at the 2024 b&t Women in Media Awards.
