South Australia revels in the rain after months-long dry spell
South Australia's long-running dry spell has finally been snapped by a much-needed downpour today.
Jessica Braithwaite presents the weather on 9News Adelaide, bringing sunshine (and the occasional storm warning) to screens across South Australia. With a passion for making meteorology fun and accessible, Jessica is known for her down to earth approach, making the weather both informative and engaging.
A nature enthusiast, Jessica is always on the lookout for ways to connect people with the wonders of the sky and seasons.
Jessica has studied meteorology and climate science with the Bureau of Meteorology in Victoria and South Australia, and has a double degree in Journalism and International Studies.
A seasoned television host, Jessica also presents Nine's building and lifestyle show Building Ideas, and the Adelaide International Tennis on Nine's Wide World of Sports.
Beyond television, Jessica is a musician and singer-songwriter. Her original music has reached No. 1 on Australia's radio download charts and No. 5 on the iTunes Rock chart. A passionate supporter of Australia's independent music scene, Jessica has hosted the Australian Independent Music Awards since 2020.
Before joining Nine, Jessica's love for people and culture took her across the world. She studied photography and documentary making in Chile, honing her Spanish while attending University at Universidad Católica, Santiago. She later lived in South Africa volunteering as a music teacher and health clinic worker in the Limpopo District.
Jessica grew up in Mount Gambier, South Australia, where she spent her childhood trying to keep up with her big brothers, riding bikes, playing tennis, and racing home-made go carts down questionable hills.
Now based in Adelaide, she balances her career with family life. Whether she's tracking a cold front, writing a song, or exploring the great outdoors with her family, she's all about embracing every season—rain, hail, or shine!
