Davina Smith is a journalist with A Current Affair and previously Nine News. She has worked in both Sydney and Brisbane and is now covering national stories for A Current Affair. She has covered a range of stories including the Queensland floods, the Christchurch earthquake, President Barack Obama’s Australian visit, and William and Catherine's royal tour through Asia Pacific.
She is a ferociously proud Toowoomba local - born and bred. Davina recalls one of the hardest stories she has covered was the Toowoomba floods. As a reporter she says, “You write and speak from a different perspective when the story is so personal. I know the experience made me a better journalist“.
She attended St Ursula's College before studying journalism at the University of Southern Queensland. In 2002, Davina did work experience in Brisbane's Nine Newsroom. That lead to a job with Nine's regional affiliate WIN News, working as a reporter and presenter in Rockhampton, Toowoomba and the Sunshine Coast. Ten years after walking in as 'the work experience kid', she returned to Brisbane as a reporter and weekend weather presenter for Nine News. She still regularly travels to Sydney to present in for Nine's Morning and Afternoon News services.
Davina is a passionate advocate for mental illness and skin cancer awareness.
