YouTube star Brittani Boren Leach has laid her baby son to rest just two weeks after his death following a Christmas Day tragedy.

Brittani and her husband Jeff Leach were celebrating the holidays with their five children when their youngest, five-month-old Crew, went down for a nap and suddenly stopped breathing.

Brittani discovered her son unresponsive and rushed him to hospital, where doctors discovered he had suffered catastrophic and irreparable brain damage.

The couple stayed by Crew's side in hospital over the following days, sharing updates on his condition via Brittani's social media page.

"We are living a nightmare, and I'm dying inside," Brittani wrote at the time. "This can't be real."

Unfortunately, Crew couldn't be revived and on New Year's Eve he was taken into surgery to donate organs, which would hopefully go on to save other sick children.

Now the couple have laid their baby boy to rest two weeks after the tragedy, sharing photos of Crew's funeral to Instagram alongside an emotional caption.

"We laid our sweet baby boy to rest today, and a part of me went with him," Brittani wrote.

"We will always feel like we are missing a piece of our family, because we are."

The couple's four other children also attended the service, their parents sharing a photo of them in matching blue outfits as they said goodbye to their baby brother.

"During his memorial, Carter reached over and grabbed my hand. Then Cooper laid his hand on ours and then Sydney laid hers on top. I'm so, so proud of them," Brittani said of her children.

The mum went on to thank family, friends and her 916,000 Instagram followers for their support through this devastating tragedy.

A fundraising page for the couple raised more than $122,000 USD in a matter of days, the money going towards his medical and funeral costs.

Earlier this week Brittani said she hopes no other parent has to experience the heartbreak she and Jeff have gone through since Crew stopped breathing on Christmas Day.

"I pray that you will never have to experience what I have... see the things I've seen... or read the things I've read, in the past week and a half," she wrote.
