Thousands of women are coming forward to share harrowing stories of abuse they've received from men after rejecting their advances.

Shana Fisher was 16 when she was killed at Santa Fe High School, along with nine other people. According to Fisher's mother Sadie Rodriguez, her daughter had experienced "four months of problems" with the male shooter.

"He kept making advances on her and she repeatedly told him no," Rodriguez told the LA Times.

"A week later he opens fire on everyone he didn’t like. Shana being the first one," she explained.

Days after the horrific story came out, Twitter user Elizabeth M urged women to discuss their own experiences with aggression and violence when romantically rejecting a man.

"RT if you’ve have had a frightening response from a man when you’ve rebuffed, rejected, or otherwise ignored his advances," she wrote on May 22. "If you feel comfortable enough to share your experience in the comments, I want to hear you."

Since it was posted, Elizabeth's call out has received thousands of comments, with stories ranging from uncomfortable to downright alarming.

The multitude of experiences these women have recounted, not to mention countless others that go unreported, is proof that there are many entitled men out there who tragically believe that women owe them something.
