Woman's sneaky solution after she sends mother-in-law mean text
A woman who sent a snarky text about her mother-in-law... to her mother-in-law came up with a quick-thinking solution.
Imgur user leoswife746 recounted her escape from metaphorical and perhaps literal doom on the social media platform. Which is helpful, since this situation is most people's actual nightmare.

(For clarity's sake, I'm going to call her 'Leo's Wife' from hereon in; her mother-in-law will be referred to as 'Leo's Mum'.)
So, here's how it went down. Leo's Mum was over visiting the couple's new baby. Leo's wife noticed that she smelled strongly of cat wee – something her and her husband (who I'm going to call, er, 'Leo') had noticed before. In fact, Leo's Mum had drawn attention to the problem herself in the past, observing that their cat had been "spraying", to the point it had become a real problem.

Anyway, Leo's Wife was seriously sleep-deprived: tired, snappy, and dealing with an epileptic two-year-old to boot. (This doesn't sound like an easy day.) Her mother-in-law's powerful fragrance pushed her over the edge.
She texted Leo, to tell him his mum smelled "like cat litter and piss". Then heard Leo's Mum's phone 'ding' in her handbag.
An icy claw of fear grabbed Leo's Wife's heart (one assumes).
"I went into panic mode," she wrote.
"Full on sweating and increased heart rate trying to figure out how the hell I was going to talk my way out of this one."
So then Leo's Wife did what any self-respecting stressed-out mum would do: used her newborn as a handy prop.
"I asked her to hold the baby while I used the restroom. Slipped her phone out of her purse on my way out of the room and she was oblivious."
This is some Oceans 11-level stealth.
Except that when Leo's Mum pulled her phone out later, she noticed that their entire text thread had gone – Leo's Wife had accidentally deleted their entire conversation, instead of just the one telltale message.

Remember, in Leo's Wife's defense, she was very overtired. Plus, as she related on imgur, she's an Apple person and Leo's Mum had an Android. She took a gamble that Leo's Mum didn't have much tech know-how, and fudged some 'theory' about how her friends had also been having Android problems.
"To this day she doesn’t know what I did." Leo's Wife wrote, clearly relieved.
"I truly do love my mother-in-law... she just smelled bad a lot. They have since given the cats to friends and family so the smell is gone but I will always be horrified by what might have happened had she read that text."
All's well that ends well, as they say. And to those on imgur who criticised LeoMost viewed in Lifestyle
