Woman suffers near fatal allergic reaction after sex
Sex almost ended in tragedy for one married couple, when a woman suffered an anaphylactic reaction to a medication her partner was taking.
The 46-year-old was exposed to penicillin through the man's semen and began complaining of dizziness, diarrhoea and itchiness on her hands and feet shortly after they slept together.
The woman went to emergency two hours later where she was told she was suffering an anaphylactic reaction.

According to the case report published in the American Journal of Medicine, the woman's husband had been undergoing treatment for infective endocarditis at home using parenteral nafcillin.

The report also suggested the woman "abstain from sexual intercourse with her husband until at least one week following his completion of antibiotics, given the high likelihood of recurrence of her symptoms following coitus".
The author in the report noted that although it was rare for a reaction to happen during intercourse, it's important to talk about what medications your partner is on.
"The prescribing provider must take into account the hazards of allergic reactions and adverse side effects, not only for the patient but also for the patient's family," the report concluded.
