Tragic note left with baby boy abandoned at US airport

A woman has left a tragic note with her newborn son as she abandoned him at a US airport.

Police have released footage of a mother they believe gave birth in a bathroom and abandoned her baby boy at Tucson International Airport on January 14.

The child was reportedly left on a changing table in a family room near baggage claim with a handwritten note pleading for someone to care for the infant.

The Tucson Airport Authority is searching for a woman who they believe abandoned a newborn at Tucson International Airport.

"Please help me. My mom had no idea she was pregnant. She is unable and unfit to take care of me. Please get me to the authorities so they can find a good home," the note reads.

"I just want what is best for him and it's not me."

According to the Washington Post, airport officials found bloody clothing in the bathroom believed to belong to the woman.

The child was transported to a nearby hospital and is now in the custody of the Arizona Department of Child Safety.
