Why British expat is done dating Aussie men: 'Misogynistic in every way you can imagine'

I've been on dozens of dates with Aussie men in the last couple of years, from a range of different ages and nationalities. Now I've decided they're the worst men to date, for many reasons.

I'm British and I've lived in Australia for nearly three years and I absolutely love it here. In fact, I was hoping to meet a nice Aussie man so I could settle here permanently, but I've had no such luck. 

I've found Aussie men to be misogynistic in every way you can imagine.

One literally told me women are "created" to look after men and raise children. When I told him that was a load of rubbish and we are equal to men, he laughed at me.

He also put me down for having a uni degree, telling me it was useless because, eventually, I'd be "barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen." He was just so insulting, I couldn't wait to leave the restaurant.

I thought he was a one-off until I met another Aussie guy who was just as bad. He didn't ask any questions about my life or my work and just went on and on about his own boring career. Also, I think he was lying because he told me he was a CEO, but a few minutes later admitted he has a boss.

He asked me if I was a PA and I said I was a business owner. He replied, "Don't tell me, I'll bet it's a lingerie shop or makeup or something girly."  

I stupidly went on another date with an Aussie man who was just as insulting from the very moment we met.

He told me I had "fantastic boobs", which was inappropriate, and went on to tell me about the last woman he had sex with whose breasts were a 10/10. I asked him if he always rated women's breasts out of 10 and he just smiled – he was creepy. 

I told a few girlfriends I was fed up with Aussie men and they accused me of being a diva. So I thought I'd give it a go with another Aussie guy and see if he was any different from the others I've met.

His name was Felix, and he was incredibly cute with a great sense of humour – so far, so good.

He really spoiled me, giving me a bunch of roses, making sure I got home safely and gave me a gentlemanly kiss on the cheek goodbye, so I thought it was promising and agreed to see him again the following week.

Well, that was disappointing. He laughed at me when I told him I was a good rugby player and lectured me about how women have "ruined" the sport. How?!

It was such an illogical argument that we moved onto something he was passionate about – the "rubbish" of the pay disparity between men and women. He said the whole issue was made up by feminists to try to derail men once again.

So that was the last date I'm having with an Aussie man, and from now on I will date any other nationality instead.
