Game show contestant loses $50k after ignoring husband’s advice

One woman is probably facing a very awkward reunion with her husband after asking for his advice on a TV game show, only to swiftly ignore it and immediately lose over $50k.

Lynn was a contestant on the British show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? had reached £32,000 ($58,000) and was about to double her money with a correct answer to the next question.

But then, she lost it all.

When asked who preceded Boris Johnson in the role of Home Secretary, she admitted that she wasn’t sure, so chose to use a lifeline to call her husband for advice. He told her that he thought the answer was Philip Hammond (and he was correct), but the show’s presenter Jeremy Clarkson said he thought it may be William Hague.

Viewers were on the edge of their seat, waiting to see which option Lynn would choose.

But, rather than taking the guaranteed £32k she chose to gamble… and went for the wrong answer.

When she realised what she had done, Lynn proclaimed “Ian will kill me!”. Jeremy then helpfully added, “May I make suggestion – don’t go home tonight.”

Turns out Lynn wanted to buy a conservatory with her prize money, while her husband was hoping for a Bugatti. Here’s hoping they didn’t end up with a divorce, instead...
