US newsreaders try to speak like the ‘youth’ in cringeworthy segment

Ashley Kent

A video has surfaced of a US news station attempting to to speak to students in ‘their’ language - and it will make you cringe so hard it hurts.

The video, recorded by Toleda News in Ohio, shows the anchors and reporters attempting to cheer on local students for their upcoming exams. Honestly, we don’t even know what to say.

“Good morning TPS students. It is testing week and it’s time to slay all day,” begins the female anchor, in what turns out to be the least cringeworthy sentence of the segment.

“Yeets, stay woke, be on fleek and get that Gucci breakfast,” replies her male co-host.

The female co-host then tells the students to say “bye Felecia” to any stress because the weather is going to be “turnt.”

Cue the worst “YASSSSSSSSSSSSSS” of all time from the weather presenter, who assures us the weather is going to be “V. lit” for testing week.

“A hundo p [sic] chance of success,” he adds.

“You’ve got this, kids!”

Just when you think you’re seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, the team throws to the traffic reporter, delivering an “OKURRRRRR” so terrible, even Cardi B – who made the phrase famous - would be offended.

He also informs viewers there won’t be any “turnt FOMO” keeping students from their tests, as roads are clear. Thank heavens, it ends there.

The segment was shared on Twitter by user @G0NEGIRLLL who was clearly in disbelief that it went to air.

“I cannot believe this is my city’s news station,” she writes.

“I cannot believe this is real.” The tweet attracted 7.3k comments and over 39k retweets, with everyone expressing a group shudder after watching the segment.
