This female politician has had enough of being interrupted in Parliament

Labor MP Trish Doyle gave an impassioned anti-abortion speech in Parliament yesterday, only to be interrupted by a male MP. Her reaction has now gone viral.

Doyle — who is MP for the Blue Mountains — explained to the NSW chamber why she was opposed to pro-lifer, Tanya Davis recently being appointed Minister for Women.

"I am pro-choice. I am a feminist, and I am here in this parliament to advance the cause of women", she said. 

"I believe the woman herself is best placed to decide what is best for her. She knows the circumstances of the pregnancy and understands what she needs. She is the one who best knows her own capacity to parent at a particular time and her personal circumstances."

Doyle then questioned Davis' ability to make impartial decisions for women because of her views.

"While [Davis] has a right to those beliefs", she said. "I believe the women of New South Wales are poorly served by them."

But, three minutes in, Nationals MP Stephen Bromhead got to his feet and interrupted, saying she was "attacking" Davis.

Doyle responded by rolling her eyes — footage of which has now gone viral.

She then continued with her speech, calling on pro-life campaigners to be banned from protesting outside abortion clinics and harassing staff, which she says is "very much anti-choice and judgmental". A bill which would impose exclusion zones around abortion clinics has recently been introduced by NSW Greens MP Dr Mehreen Faruqi.
