Shocking moment tree crashes into home above sleeping baby's cot

Parents have caught the shocking moment a tree crashed through the roof of their home, right on top of their five-month-old son's cot.

The family from Prairieville, Louisiana, managed to film the incident on their baby monitor, capturing the second the large tree smashes through their home and covers the newborn in rubble and debris.

In the short clip, the baby can be seen sleeping on his back when a loud crashing noise disrupts his sleep and reduces him to tears.

Sprinting into the room, the baby's mother shouts "oh my god" several times before removing her child from the cot.

The tree crash occurred due to a storm occurring across the Louisiana town, but fortunately the infant was unharmed.

As a blue tarp currently covers the family's damaged home, the child's father told CNN they simply wanted to ensure their son was "safe."

"The biggest thing we were worried about was that we were all okay and safe - that was the biggest thing was just getting him out and making sure he was safe," he shared.

"All the materialistic things can be replaced."

The couple had recently moved to the area after a flood destroyed their previous home, CNN reports.
